We learned about hearing at Farm Safety this week. We learned about the parts of our ears. Did you know that there are tiny hairs in your ears that help you hear? We got to measure different sounds. 85 dB is too loud! It is important to protect your ears. We had fun and learned a lot!
Last week we learned about and explored using chalk pastels. The students had fun experimenting with the chalk pastels, making spooky Halloween scenes, colourful skylines, and blended images.
Take a look at these young artists hard at work! An In Science, we have been busy learning all about soil. To help us organize our ideas and show what we know, we created webs about the particles in soil. Now that we have iPads in our classroom, we were able to use the app Popplet to create our webs. Check them out! The pictures of the webs are a little small, so you will see PDF files listed below. Click on the links to view the webs. Please keep in mind that we are still learning how to use the app to represent information. There will be more to come! (And I will upload the last 5 webs as soon as I can!)
On Friday, we bid farewell to our classroom worms. We thanked them for providing us with rich and engaging learning experiences.
We returned them to the soil and celebrated with a special treat. Do you know what to do if there is a fire? Yesterday we went to the Fire Hall for Fire Safety. There were three firefighters there. They talked to us about hearing the beep where you sleep. It was loud when the smoke detector was in the room! We should check our smoke detectors at home!
